Here are five important factors to consider when comparing different chair lift models:

The type of stairs on which the chair lift will be used. Chair lifts for stairs can be adapted to both curved and straight staircases, but they will cost much more for curved or otherwise complicated staircases than for straight ones. The most affordable ones are those fitted onto a straight staircase with the rails removed.
What kind of drive you select. There are four main types of chair lifts models currently available: those that rely on cables, those that use chains, screw drive and pinion drives. Pinion drives and cable models tend to be the most common, however, and you will likely have the most selection it you select one of those models.
Construction materials and additional features. There are wide range of materials and metals that can be used in the construction of chair lifts, but aluminum, steel or some combination of those two metals are by far the most common. Additional features such as swivel chairs will also increase the price, but such conveniences may be well worth the price, or even a necessity, given the needs of the user.
Installation Costs. When you are conducting your research on different models, be sure the price you are being quoted includes the installation costs. In some cases, installation costs may actually exceed the price of the chair lift itself, and it is very important you know what this cost will be before making any purchase.
Electric or Battery Powered? You will have a choice as to whether you want your chair lift to be powered by electricity or batteries. If you live in an area that has frequent power outages, you should take this decision quite seriously since it may result in the chair lift user being stranded in the event of a power outage.

By carefully considering these factors when making your purchase, you will be well on your way towards finding which chair lift model is best for you or your loved one.

M. In fact, most people in apartment buildings will not mind taking an elevator if they have to climb just two flights of stairs. The lure of an elevator is comfortable enough that we cancel our plans to climb some stairs.

While elevators are now considered a norm given their presence in almost every building, stair lifts are still a rather unknown phenomenon. What actually are these stair lifts? As the name suggests, stair lifts are used to lift a person through a flight of stairs. Unlike elevators, that are used for multi-story ascend, stair lifts are limited in their approach.

Primarily, they are meant for the disabled persons who are unable to climb stairs. A stair lift is essentially a mechanical set of rails and ascending/descending device that helps a person to climb the stairs (mostly on a wheel chair).

This means that a stair lift can be installed in a typical double storey home or even on the ground floor if the house has multi-level rooms and lounges. A person with walking difficulty cannot climb even a few steps in extreme conditions and needs stair lift assistance. You will have to install a mini stair lift for them in that case.

There are two basic types of stair lifts. One comes with the standard style and is known as the straight stair lift. Other one is used in curved staircases and thus it is called curved stair lift. The types of staircases, of course play the crucial role in determining the installation of a straight or curved stair lift. However, there are some instances where the overall structure of the house and design can alter the decisions and change your perceptions about these stair lifts.

A simple home structure does not allow for a curved stair lift. In most cases, these homes have straight staircases or a two-level staircase. That type of staircase is divided into two levels with flight of steps on each end of the middle platform.

This middle platform is provided to give some rest to the people ascending these steps. Stair lift can be installed on this type of staircase with relative ease. One just has to fix the lift along with the handrails and attach its hooks at the sides of the steps. Once installed, the lift can be used to transport old or disabled person up and down the stairs.

In many homes, people have paid great attention to details. They have gone for curved staircases instead of the straight ones. These curved staircases cannot help the installation of a straight stair lift. You will have to install a curved stair lift on these staircases. There are many variations in curved stair lifts and they look more stylish as compared to the straight stair lifts.

Brinkmann Hamer is a fitness expert. In the end, this endeavor might involve a lot of manpower and budget.

In addition, home stair lifts are not that affordable, but when compared to all the expenses of transferring to the lower floor, this might be the most affordable solution. Likewise, setting up the lift may be challenging to you. Stair lift companies generally handle the installation of the equipment. Your job is to provide the dimensions of your stairs. There are two main kinds of elevator lifts: the seated ones and the wheelchair variety. Lifts with seats are less costly and most suitable for older people. On the other hand, if you have a disabled family member who believes that they will need a wheelchair should opt for a wheelchair lift.

Home elevators can be costly. But, you can find second hand home stair lifts. When the disability of your loved one is short term, and after recovering, then there is no requirement for elevator lifts anymore. Majority of stair lift manufacturers selling brand new lifts likewise help people sell their second hand lifts.

In the end, you will realize that home stair lifts can be a viable addition to your home, especially for your elderly and disabled family member. /> What floor treatment to use in finished basement?

I have a section of my basement that is finished which needs new floor treatment due to a flood. It had been carpeted with thick but inexpensive Buber. The stairs have same carpet. The area is divided into an office with 2 walk in closets and a multi purpose room. The multi purpose room has an exercise area with weight lifting bench, free weights and treadmill, while other side of this long room has a love seat, book shelves, TV w/ game system.

I need suggestions on what floor treatment(s) to replace the carpet. I have 2 dogs who have accidents in the basement on occasion, so I will not be replacing with Buber. Turns out you can’t steam clean Buber well (as its hard to get suction). I like the idea of carpet (especially since it muffles sound when you walk down the stairs) but Id like to have a more easily cleaned flooring, yet maintain the finished look, feel and sound.

While linoleum on the floor might work with some well placed area rugs, I don’t have any idea how that would work on the stairs.

How To Determine When To Buy A Stair Lift

Articles

Determine

Lift

Stair

HELP! How to get Christmas lights on an 80 foot pine tree (please read!)?

Ok. I have an 80 foot tall pine tree in my front yard, about 12 feet from my house. I would like to wrap that sucker in Christmas lights this year, however there is nowhere to put a bucket or lift to get up there ( our yard is along a main street and there is no driveway as the house sits about 50 feet above the street in our yard & the only acess to the house or yard is up two flights of stairs, and the backyard is sunken from an alley and the only acess to the house from there is down two flights of stairs from the alley). I’m just pre-planning a little, not gonna put ‘em up in July so don’t worry lol. So, any ideas on HOW I can get lights on that thing without a lift of any kind? thanks in advance! God bless!!! <img
